S&S Cycle has announced new names for its engine families. The company will now be referring to its engines with the following prefixes: SH, V, T, X, and B.

The SH-Series includes the Shovel engine in its various configurations including generator, alternator, and generator/alternator options. It is currently offered in 80ci, 93ci, and 103ci displacements.Engines formerly known as Sidewinder, Super Sidewinder and Super Sidewinder Plus will now be known as the V-Series. They are available as an aftermarket product, with displacement options of 96ci, 107ci, 113ci, and 124ci, and are compatible as a replacement engine for Harley-Davidson motorcycles using the Evolution engine.

The T-Series includes engines utilizing dual cams. The high-performance engines are compatible as a replacement engine for Harley-Davidson motorcycles using the Twin Cam 88 engine. In addition to the T124 (124ci displacement) used to take two records at Bonneville this year, other models include racing engines in 120ci, 133ci, and 139ci displacement options. A T-Series version, designed to mount in 1984-1999 single cam models, is also available. Two displacement options of 91ci and 100ci are offered with the X-Series engine. The motors are designed to be a performance replacement engine compatible with Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycles.

The B-Series engines are similar to the X-Series but designed as an aftermarket performance engine compatible with Buell motorcycles. “We’re not changing our engines, just the names,” said Brian Conyers, Manager of Communications and Marketing for S&S Cycle. “We know there are several ’street names’ that have been used, and will continue to be used in the market to identify engines of all types, but now we can officially refer to our engines with specific names that are simple and effective as we continue to provide premium engines and parts.”
