Indian Motorcycles moved to North Carolina last year in preparation for restarting production of the Indian Motorcycle. They have just launched their new website which gives up to date status of where the company is right now.
According to their site, they plan to start production of 2008 Indian Chief in the fourth quarter of 2007. Their first year of production will be limited to the Chief platform with several distinct versions. Future models are in the planning stages and will continue to balance classic design with modern technology. Engine for the bike will be the PowerPlus 100. All engine assembly will be done in-house. The engine will undergo significant internal changes, but the shape will remain the same. The “bottle cap” is back. Production will be limited though you can reserve one of the first bikes with a $1000 deposit.
The site includes dealer signup information, employment opportunities and a store with Indian logo merchandise. If you’re interested in the rebirth of the Indian marque, check it out.
