Crash test dummys on motorcycles

Pretty spooky video of motorcycle vs. car collision tests. You wouldn’t want to end up in a crash like these. A pretty good incentive to wear your protection gear; crash like this without it and you’re toast.

A good time to emphasize the numero uno motorcycle rule of thumb: RIDE LIKE YOU’RE INVISIBLE, never ever just assume a car (or pedestrian for that matter) have seen you.

Now erase this video from your mind and go enjoy riding your bike all weekend.

Take a look at the video and let us know what you think!

The Neander Turbo Diesel motorcycle

neandertwinforks.jpgThe Neander Turbo Diesel motorcycle is another new bike getting very close to seeing the light of day in production trim. The guys have been thrashing the prototype to make sure everything is in order:Their team of test drivers allowed the prototype to taste the spring asphalt, by running it from Munich through France into Southern Spain and back.

Neander then say, we have almost completed the chassis construction for the “real” NEANDER. With its full-grown wheel length of 1930 mm and the daunting twin-forks

If you go to their website, they have quite a few concept drawings showing the twin forks, no photos, though. Interesting. Is that a design feature only or is there a functional advantage of some sort?

The final form of the Neander will be shown this summer. Looks like quite a few people have been waiting for this one, a turbo diesel cruiser that performs. Very cool.

This year’s show attracted over 100 bikes from 18 countries, including the USA, Russia and Japan.

“The quality of these bikes is just incredible,” said both AMD publisher and show organizer, Robin Bradley and Custom Chrome President Holger Mohr.

This year’s show will be remembered for the number and quality of bikes entered by Eastern European builders, including the show’s overall winner, Hungarian, Sapka Muvek with his H.G. Wells tribute bike The Time Machine.

French builders completed the top three with Art Of Racer’s Rock ‘N Bike second and The Crosser, built by Riverside Motorcycles, taking third place.

In the supporting classes the Modified Harley class was taken by the Hank Young built P-Tang, which was entered by Giovanni Valla of Numero Uno Milano, Italy. In the Custom Chrome kit bike class, Helter Skelter from Germany’s TGS Motorcycles took the top honors.

Saxon Motorcycle Company Announces EU Type Approval

2007 Saxon - SceptreCasa Grande, AZ –March 20, 2007- Representatives of Saxon Motorcycles Europe proudly announced today that they have obtained the European Type approval, making all of their bikes “road legal” and allowing them to be licensed by dealers in every country of the European Union (EU) and Switzerland. Saxon Motorcycles Europe, founded in January 2006 by Frank Vermeulen and Rinke Andringa of the Netherlands, was created specifically to provide the European market with custom, American-style motorcycles.

E.U Type approval is a giant step for Saxon, a move reaffirming Saxon as a leader in the motorcycle industry and an addition to an already exciting year. So far in 2007 Saxon introduced the new model line to critical acclaim and most recently the Griffin Chopper won Production Chopper of the Year at the V-Twin expo.

“Obtaining European Type approval is a huge accomplishment for Saxon” said David Schwam, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Saxon Motorcycle Company USA. “The team at Saxon Europe has worked tirelessly to allow us to become one of the first American made production custom motorcycles available in Europe and we are convinced that they will do a great job of upholding our commitment to customer service and dealer support.”

“Obtaining approval in such a short period of time was a huge challenge. Not only did we need to demonstrate that our bikes were in conformity with strict European standards on safety, emissions and sound, but that we had the infrastructure in place to properly support our customers and dealers” said Frank Vermeulen. “We’re very pleased that we were able to obtain approval and make our line-up available in our dealers showrooms this selling season” Frank added.

The Type approval has been granted for two European models, the Warlord, a rebellious US High-neck Chopper, and the Firestorm, a long and low Pro-street. This is one of the first steps that Saxon is taking to ensure its position domestically and internationally. Both models come standard with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty, 96” (1573cc) S&S engine, 260 rear tire, right side drive transmission and softail-frame. “The bikes not only look great, but they’re extremely comfortable and well balanced,” said Rinke Andringa. At this point there is no other production custom motorcycle company that has received such a high approval rating throughout the EU.

Stebel Air Horns

stebel-horn.jpgTired of beeping your stock horn that sounds like a scooter or a golf cart? At 139dB (!) the air horns made by the Italian company STEBEL have 3 times the sound power of a typical OEM horn, loud enough to convince other drivers that there‘s a derailed freight train barreling down on them. The classic type is all chrome, perfectly suited for your shiny exterior motor finish. The black version is the choice of bikers who prefer that dark look. It blends into the shadows of other motor components like a ninja, ready to strike loud when needed! Stebel air horns are

BRITTOWN - a britbike motorcycle documentary…..

At last, here we have something that looks like a far more gritty and realistic motorcycle movie, than the likes of Wild Hogs and Ghost Rider. There are a few really good movies made on low budgets but with a lot more passion than the Hollywood blockbusters. The up coming movie Brittown is one of them. As the description say:

“BRITTOWN - a motorcycle documentary featuring Meatball from the Hell On Wheels bike shop in Anaheim, California.

As a master mechanic, vintage Brit bike connoisseur and dirt-track racer, Meatball splits his time between family, his shop and his rock band Smiling Face Down. Brittown joins Meatball for several months as he heads to races, plays gigs and uses all his skill to turn an old 650 Triumph Bonneville motor into a 130 mph road-ready screamer.”

To me this sounds way more interesting than the stereotypic big screen productions that I’ve seen recently. Here’s the promo video. Take a look at the video and let us know what you think!
