Billy Lane was not present in court Friday for the docket sounding of the criminal charges. At that time a representative for Eisenmenger Berry & Peters, P.A. requested an extension in order to gather evidence. This extension was granted by the judge and the new docket sounding for the criminal trial will take place June 29th.The interesting thing about the developments on Friday is that Kepler Funk, Billy Lane’s original attorney, has filed a motion to withdraw from the case due to conflict of interest. This motion will be heard April 13th.
Some other interesting developments… Gregory Eisenmenger recently said he planned to file a court order to force the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to turn over documents containing information about Lane and Morelock’s blood alcohol level the night of the crash. As we know, toxicology reports showed that both Billy Lane and Gerald Morelock were over the legal BAC on the night of the crash. Police reports also indicate that Billy Lane had visited two bars before the accident.
The Morelocks’ family attorney S. Sammy Cacciatore has said that Billy Lane also refused to answer questions about his driving history, when or where he met the young woman who was riding in his car the night of the crash or what they were doing immediately before on grounds the answers might incriminate him.
He has also refused to provide documentation of his agreement with Daimler Chrysler, which provided Lane with the vehicle he was driving for promotional purposes, Cacciatore said. The car company is also named in the Morelock’s suit.
Jeffrey Vernis, Lane’s civil attorney, could not be reached Friday for comment, but Berry said Lane does not have to answer questions in the civil case until the criminal case is completed.
“No intelligent lawyer is going to allow his client to talk especially when you have such serious (criminal) charges pending,” Berry said.
(Some research for this article was taken from The Florida Today newspaper.)

S&S Cycle is going all out to promote their new X-Wedge engine as well they should. It looks like it has a lot going for it, great power output, multiple displacements available and it meets all of the EPA emission regulations. To give bikers an idea of what it can do, they’re installing it in a lot of custom bikes and signing on custom builders to wrap something around it.
This bike goes along with our big twin sport bike theme, the Sport Fighter XTR, which is the work of Tim Edmonson of Edmondson Custom Built in Texas. The engine is a fuel injected 117 inch X-Wedge hooked up to a Jims 5 speed transmission all fitted into a custom frame. Wheels are 18 inch on both ends with a 130 Metzeler up front and a 250 out back. I like the exhaust tucked up under the tail like a lot of sport bikes instead of down on the side like most of the V-Twin customs you see. It looks like it would be a fun bike and if this doesn’t give a few builders some ideas, they’re not paying attention. Remember, the EPA rules that limit custom and kit bike builders are easy to deal with if your engine is EPA certified and the X-Wedge takes care of that.

Daytona Beach, FL – (March 7, 2007) –With all 200 hundred breakfast tickets sold, the Builders Breakfast kicked it into high gear with an auction that raised an additional $12,000. Topping off an unbelievable morning, Bruce Rossmeyer, owner of Destination Daytona made an announcement to event host Billy Lane stating he would MATCH all the funds raised at the event.
The first annual breakfast was held last year at the legendary Broken Spoke Saloon on Lazelle Street in Sturgis. Due to demand, a second event was added annually in Daytona. “After the first event I received tons of emails and calls from people who wanted to attend the event, but didn’t go to Sturgis. They asked if we could hold a breakfast in Daytona. I talked to the other Builders and Rossmeyer and we decided we would give it a shot. With very little notice and time we pulled today’s event together. Based on the numbers, I think we did the right thing. Thanks to Bruce Rossmeyer and the attendees, Boggy Creek is leaving with a FAT check!” said Billy Lane, Founder of Choppers Inc and the Builders Breakfast.
Today’s Breakfast raised over $5,000 in ticket sales alone and nearly another $12,000 at the auction. “The beautiful part of today, was that every dollar we raised was doubled thanks to the generosity of Bruce Rossmeyer. Our $17,000 turned into $34,000 just like that” finished Lane.
