Long fork chopper wins at Bigtwin Bikeshow in Netherlands

141108amd2.jpgFirst seen at the Twin Club’s Custom Bike Show at Norrtalje, Sweden, in June, Lasse Sundberg’s Indian Power Plus engined chopper improved on its joint third placing there by scooping the win at the latest round in the 2009 Official World Championship’s international affiliate event program.

The Big Twin Bikeshow & Expo (formerly ‘MotorSale’) in the Netherlands is one of Europe’s best established and well respected custom bike events, and one with the emphasis very much on running bikes.

In a field that saw anything up to seven or eight bikes in with a chance of scooping the top prize, with several former European and World Championship competitors entered, Sundberg’s twin upswepts, Redneck Engineering framed chopper powered onto the stage to the acclaim of a crowd of more than fifteen hundred who had gathered to see the awards.

The event as a whole co-hosts Zodiac International’s annual Dealer Show, with Zodiac generously sponsoring the Bigtwin Bikeshow (as they have done for years) and, along with Harrison Billet, putting up class prizes.

Our thanks go to Margot Gerritsen and the team at Bigtwin Magazine for staging yet another fantastic weekend and helping to make the World Championship’s second affiliate year in the Netherlands such a great success.

Thanks to Bigtwin Magazine, Sundberg wins a 5,000 Euro (approx US$8,500) cash contribution towards the costs of competing at AMD’s 6th annual Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

The Bigtwin Bikeshow & Expo drew most of Europe’s major parts and accessory manufacturers and distributors, and many American vendors, and despite some reports that dealer attendance was lower than the event sometimes sees, the organizers say that overall attendance for the three-day event was around the same as last year, at something in the region of 20,000 custom riders and enthusiasts.
